Biography
Jordan Brooks is a South African violinist building an impressive international career as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent competition successes include both the Strings and Overseas prizes in the ROSL International Music Competition, the prize for the best Chinese work in the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition, and he has won prizes at all the South African national competitions including first prize in the National Youth Music Competition in 2019. He also recently performed in the Enescu International Violin Competition in Bucharest.
Recent performances include recitals in venues including Wigmore Hall, Stoller Hall, St George’s Bristol, Brighton Dome, St Martins-In-The-Fields and Bridgewater Hall as well as concerto performances with Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra, The City of Cambridge Orchestra and Westminster Philharmonic. He has collaborated with pianists including Kumi Matsuo, Dominic Degavino, Stephen de Pledge and Archie Bonham.
Jordan has played and toured with orchestras including the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and the MIAGi Orchestra performing in venues including the Elbphilharmonie and the Concertgebouw. He has participated in chamber festivals including the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival and the Quatro Corde Festival, and will be a guest artist of the At the World’s Edge Festival in New Zealand in October 2025.
Playing on a Storioni violin, Jordan is in his final year at the Royal College of Music under a full scholarship from the ABRSM, studying with Radu Blidar. He previously studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester UK, and has participated in masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov, the Emerson Quartet, the Manchester Collective, and the SANYO baroque ensemble.
